Harmonica Standards, realised in 2026 by ZDB Records, Roma, is an album of jazz standards reimagined through the chromatic harmonica, pairing the expressive reach of the instrument with a intimate piano trio. Recorded with Paolo Birro on piano, Luca Colussi on drums and Marco Privato on double bass. The project breathes new life into timeless repertoire while honoring the tradition of jazz interpretation: Miles, Shorter and a brand new sight on Bob Marley, with the voice of a new modern instrument.
"Meet the Microrchestra, the world's tiniest ensemble—Pandeiro and harmonica sing, while the guitar gentle sweep—tiny in size, huge in charm, sound, and heart."
"Adam Holzman, Miles Davis’s legendary keyboardist, joins forces with multi-instrumentalist Stefano Olivato and drummer Davide Ragazzoni. Since 2009, this powerhouse trio has delivered acrobatic concerts, vividly reviving the electric jazz-rock and fusion spirit of the 70s."

"A 23-year musical odyssey with Angelo Branduardi. From classical to Celtic-pop, I have contributed bass, harmonica, guitar, and vocals to his unique, spiritual international sound."
"Stefano Olivato & Contemporary Baroque Orchestra reinvent Vivaldi and Marcello with stunning virtuosity. Witness the bass reimagining the bassoon and the harmonica transforming the oboe in a breathtaking fusion of modern mastery and baroque tradition."

"A dedicated educator, he has taught Chromatic Harmonica, Jazz Bass, Pop/Rock Ensemble, and Composition at the Conservatories of Rovigo, Parma, Salerno, Castelfranco, and Trapani. Additionally, he authored the textbooks L'arrangiatore pop/rock (co-written with Leonardo Pieri, Lineeditions) and Metodo per basso elettrico (Daigo, 2011)."
Olivato, in 2023, published a “librisco”—a hybrid book-album blending songwriting, poetry, and literature. It was a collaboration among Freecom, Zdb, and All Around, unveiled at the Turin Book Fair to widespread press praise. Critics lauded its seamless fusion of text and music and its cross-genre ambition.

Stefano Olivato is a chromatic harmonica and bass expert, and dedicated conservatory professor with deep musical passion.
With the retirement of Toots Thielemans, the honor of being listed as the finest chromatic harmonica jazz player is being defined as we speak, surely on the short list is Stefano Olivato.
His playing exemplifies a deep knowledge of all things musical, and his riffs and jazz improvisations are measured and timeless, with control of technique reflecting world class talent. He is surely one of the best in the world.
Stefano Olivato…truly a Master of Harmonica.
